Saint Francis of Laval visiting sick people (Seminary of Quebec - Guest Hall)
Saint Francis of Laval (1623-1708), first bishop of Québec, was beatified by Pope John Paul Il in 1980. He is recognized for his faith and his confidence in God during a life which he consecrated to the building of a dynamic and evangelic Christian community on the shores of the St. Lawrence River in New France, as the Québec Province of today was called at that time.
